Open work permit – Work for any employer, in any occupation, anywhere in Canada.

Eligibility (2025 Rules)

  • Graduated from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) eligible for PGWP
  • Program must be at least 8 months long
  • Language requirement: CLB 7 for university graduates, CLB 5 for college graduates
  • Field of study must align with the new eligibility list (unless you applied before 25 June 2025)
  • Must apply within 180 days of receiving final marks

Important Notes

  • Can only get one PGWP in a lifetime
  • If your passport expires earlier, the permit will be shorter
  • You can work full‑time while waiting for a decision (if you held a valid study permit)
  • PGWP holders can transition to permanent residence via Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
